Michael Flynn

Michael Flynn is the current, and to date only, Acute Oncology Nurse Consultant at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT). Michael has worked with colleagues at Guy’s Cancer, South East London Cancer Alliance and Guy’s Cancer Academy to build and develop the GSTT Acute Oncology Service, supporting one of the major Cancer Centres in the UK over the past 12 years.
Since starting in cancer nursing as a 2nd year Registered Nurse at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane Australia on 5 June 1989, Michael has built a career within oncology and haematology that focuses on recognising, assessing, and treating unwell cancer patients utilising a collaborative multi-professional approach.

Michael is a firm advocate of Advanced Practice nursing. He graduated with a Master of Science (MSc) in Advanced Practice from King’s College London and is a registered Independent Prescriber. Currently he is undertaking a graduate certificate in Health Professions Education with University College London, and is looking forward to ongoing collaboration with Guy’s Cancer Academy.

Outside of work Michael enjoys reading, cooking (well maybe just barbecuing) and spending time with his wife and two cockapoos, as well as constantly financing his two adult children.
